Electrolux Muhō, 2020
A smart disinfection station for the hallway.
After the global pandemic of 2020, a new consciousness for hygiene has emerged. People have changed their social behaviours and interaction with items publicly shared between larger groups. Now more than before, our homes should be a safe zone, protecting us from the hazards of the outside world. However, daily carry items such as phone, wallet and keys open up a way for infectious diseases to bypass our hygienic rituals, as they find use- cases both outside and inside the home.
Electrolux Muhō provides sanitization for both the hands and the objects you most interact with during the day. Located at the entry-point to the house, it uses liquid disinfectant and far-UVC light to effectively eliminate any contaminations — and all of that in just the time you need to take your coat off. By creating a shield between the outside world and your home, Electrolux Muhō helps you keeping infectious threats away from what you love most.
Electrolux Muhō is the result of a four week project at Umeå Institute of Design with the goal to design Post-COVID Home Care Solutions. The project is a collaboration with Electrolux.
